Company History
Gustav Gerster, the Biberach based textile company, celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2007.
Founded in 1882 the company has lived through the turbulent ups and downs of Germany's history and today, despite the current world financial situation, Gerster has a strong, healthy business footing. Starting as a small textile trimmings company, Gerster is now the largest trimmings, tieback and tassel producer in Germany.
After the second world war Gerster began producing curtain tapes and today manufactures over 40 million metres per year! In the 1980s curtain production was added to the manufacturing program and today our range of products in this field includes printed, woven and embroidered fabrics.
We employ over 350 people at our head quarters in Germany (Biberach) and in our subsidiary factory in Poland (opened in 1995). Our modern in-house production of fabric weaving and tieback/tassel assembly are traditionally of a very high quality standard: something which we are immensely proud of and which we are determined to maintain.
Gerster Techtex
The establishment of our subsidiary Gerster Techtex in 2004 followed our conscious decision to expand our know-how in the manufacturing of textile narrow fabrics.
In recent years we have been able to establish ourselves as a reliable and competent partner for special solutions in the field of technological textiles.
Our technologically advanced narrow tapes can be used in a broad range of applications. A particular strength is the production of reinforcing materials for the composite market . Achieve significant gains in efficiency, weight and stability with additives and operating supply items on the basis of our narrow tapes.
Our broad product line includes standard and special structures of glass, aramid and carbon as well as synthetic yarns, eg PES fibers. We develop and produce special made solutions following your specifications.
